The Thousand Sons first broke out as a separate army in late 7th edition with the release of Magnus (the first 40k primarch!) and a host of new models which marked them as a standalone army. Since then they've weathered ups and downs, most recently having a bit of a resurgence in 9th edition as part of combined forces with Tzeentch Daemons.

The base stat lines for a Daemon Prince, and a Primarch are pretty much identical (S7, T6, 8-9 wounds) if you compare them without special rules/wargear.. Thousand Sons will be my Psychic Army. I painted his skin like Magnus', painted his armour with thousand sons blue and gold, then painted his wings to fade from crimson-purple-bright blue like Magnus' wings.
